Matcha is the superfood of the tea world, it was traditionally used by monks to enhance their study and meditation practice, and ward of hunger. Matcha invigorates the mind and body and is made from nutrient rich green tea leaves, ground down into the finest of powders. With less than one teaspoon of our organic matcha you are consuming the whole green tea leaf and all its nutrients. It contains 10 x the antioxidants as normal green tea.
Antioxidants help protect the body from free radicals that cause damage to our DNA. Free radicals are a normal by-product of our metabolism however, we often do not consume enough antioxidants in our day to day diet to neutralise them. It has been found that the damage created by free radicals can cause excessive oxidation within the body and this can lead to premature ageing, inflammatory diseases & diabetes. It is particularly important to have a diet high in antioxidants when we are stressed or living in a polluted environment.

Matcha is made up of the entire tea leaf, drinking one cup of matcha green tea is equivalent to drinking 10 cups of normal green tea. Traditional tea that is steeped in hot water only provides 10% of the tea leaves nutrients.
The caffeine in matcha is a source of nutritional energy. The body's response to the caffeine found in matcha is very different to that which is found in coffee and energy drinks. When caffeine binds with the catechins (antioxidants) it slows down the release of caffeine into the blood stream, creating a more sustained energy 4-6hrs vs. 1hr with coffee. So even if you are the most devoted coffee drinker switching to organic matcha will help to reduce any anxiety, jitteriness or insomnia.
The presence of L-theanine (an amino acid) triggers an alert state within the mind and improves cognition and concentration. When combined with a low level of caffeine this increases one’s level of alertness even more – without causing changes in anxiety levels, blood pressure or sleep quality that are often experienced when drinking coffee.
Matcha has thermogenic properties. This essentially means that consuming matcha can increase the heat within your body which in turn speeds up your metabolism and fat burning power- some studies have found that drinking matcha can increase your metabolism by up to four times its normal rate.
